Oregon's distracted driving laws seem to be working

As readers of this blog would probably know, drivers both in the Portland area and throughout the state now have to follow Oregon's relatively new anti-distracted measure. This law bans almost all usage of hand-held cell phones, regardless of whether a person is actually texting, searching the web or even just having a conventional phone conversation.

Toyota recalls hybrid Priuses because of stalling risk

Toyota recently announced the recall of 2.4 million of its Prius model, a hybrid car. This is a worldwide recall, but over 800,000 of the affected models are in the United States. Being that Portlanders are environmentally conscious, it would not be surprising at all that some of these vehicles are being driven in this city.

Deaths down in 2017, but does that cover lost ground?

Particularly with respect to pedestrian deaths but for other types of accidents as well, there has been a lot of focus on the fact the number of traffic fatalities has been trending upward across the country, even in the face of advancing automobile technology.
