A previous post on this blog discussed the added layer of complexity it adds to a pedestrian accident when the driver responsible for the incident takes off from the scene and is never found.
In these sorts of situations, however, our law office is available to help and injured victim or the victim’s family pursue their legal claims to the fullest extent possible. Our first step would, of course, to be to cooperate with the police and, if possible, help them locate the driver of the vehicle.
If after trying, we are unable to do so, then we will review our clients’ insurance coverages, as these often would allow them to turn to their own insurance company for compensation. However, we never assume that this is going to be easy, as an insurance company may either dispute the claim outright or may try to pay less compensation than what an injured victim really needs to get back on his or her feet.
At our firm, we recognize the serious nature of all pedestrian accidents. Emotional and physical recovery can be tough on anyone after getting hit by a car, but, too often, these accident end with severe head injuries or spinal cord injuries that will leave a person recovering from the accident for the rest of his or her life.
Our law office prides itself on conducting a thorough investigation of all pedestrian accidents, whether the responsible driver has been identified or not. We will use the results of that investigation, as well as our legal knowledge and skill, to advocate for the rights of injured victims and, to the extent possible, help them get the compensation they deserve.
