What are the rights of an employee after a work accident?

An injured worker may be facing financial losses after a work accident. From lost wages to medical expenses, an employee and his family can be impacted by the incident for years to come. While Oregon employers are generally required to provide workers' compensation coverage for a work accident, the claims process can be complicated and confusing.

Despite what some Oregon employees may have been told, there are certain rights granted to workers in case of an injury on the job. Moreover, it is always within the rights of an employee to seek legal assistance with his or her claim. In fact, having a legal ally to guide you through the workers' compensation claims process can benefit both you and your family.

Occasionally, a workers' compensation claim may be denied or the amount granted may not be sufficient to cover all financial needs. In this case, the employee has the right to fight the denial or seek legal assistance in order to appeal and/or pursue additional compensation. Speaking with an experienced attorney is the best way to understand how an employee and family can fight for both the financial and physical recovery that they need after an on-the-job accident.

The workers' compensation system frequently changes, and victims may have a hard time getting the information they need to file a claim. If you are unable to return to work after a serious work accident, it is also within your rights to seek vocational training in order to transition to another job. For help with any aspect of the workers' compensation process, exercise your right to procure legal assistance. You can also visit our site for additional information.
