Grandmother dies, granddaughter injured in car crash in Oregon

Laws are a part of life, especially when on the road. In fact, following the rules of the road is a significant responsibility for all motorists. This can help to avoid accidents, which can result injuries and even death in some cases. It turns out this may have been what happened in a recent car crash in Oregon.

The deadly collision occurred one afternoon in mid-October when a 1994 Ford Mustang was heading westbound on the highway. The car apparently crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic. The driver of the Mustang ended up crashing head-on into a 1993 Honda Accord that was eastbound.

The driver of the Honda was a 64-year-old woman who was extricated from her vehicle before being transported to the Oregon Health and Science University Hospital to receive treatment for her injuries. However, despite the efforts of the medical staff, the woman eventually succumbed to her injuries. The woman's 3-year-old granddaughter, who was a passenger in the Honda, was hospitalized for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Mustang, a 33-year-old man, was also transported to the hospital for an injury which was not considered a threat to his life.

The saddest part about this story is that the young child who was a passenger in the Honda will now have to grow up without her grandmother who died in the fatal car crash. However, the family of the victims will be entitled to file a civil lawsuit in Oregon against the driver of the Mustang. If the plaintiffs are successful in documenting the driver's negligence, the court will likely order the defendant to pay monetary reimbursement as provided by our personal injury and wrongful death laws.
