Auto accident leads to serious injuries for man on motorcycle

An auto accident in the Beaverton area of Oregon has landed one man in the hospital for medical treatment. The auto accident occurred when a truck hit a motorcycle head on. The man driving the truck purportedly left his vehicle and fled from the scene of the accident. Because of an eyewitness account of the accident from a local firefighter, law enforcement was able to make an arrest.

The arrest was made two hours later and Oregon law enforcement stated that there was evidence that could point to drunk driving. The motorcycle was traveling westbound and the eastbound truck struck the bike as the suspected drunk driver was turning. The motorcycle rider was not killed, but he was seriously injured.

The suspected truck driver was discovered a few hours later as he was spotted trying to enter a house. He was facing probation charges from violations, warrants, suspected drunk driving and leaving the scene of an accident. These are serious legal charges and the Oregon driver could face penalties that include jail time and other consequences. The injured driver could choose to seek compensation through a personal injury claim. This would be a civil claim, which means that it is separate from any criminal charges he faces.

A personal injury claim can be the best way for a victim of an unexpected auto accident to seek compensation for accident-related expenses. Medical bills can be overwhelming and in some cases, insurance coverage is not adequate for all of the costs associated with the event. Undertaking this process is a serious legal decision and one that should be made after careful consideration and an evaluation of the entire case.
