An Oregon man was flown to Sacred Heart Medical Center after a pedestrian accident that occurred along Highway 42. The man was severely injured when struck by a commercial truck. He was walking alongside Highway 42 with his dog when the pedestrian accident occurred.
According to what the driver reports, the Oregon pedestrian let go of his dog and then moved directly in the path of the oncoming truck. The driver claims that he attempted to avoid hitting the man but was unable to do so. It is not clear if law enforcement believes that the driver is at fault, but it appears that he is cooperating with authority.
The man sustained serious injuries in the impact. The nature of the injuries are not immediately clear, but pedestrians often suffer blunt force trauma and other severe injuries in these types of incidents. Because the man was medically transported, it was obvious that his injuries were serious and life-threatening. Ultimately, the man died as a result of this tragic accident.
It is important to note that any pedestrian accident should be treated the same as any other type of car accident. Even when those accidents occur because of circumstances beyond the control of the driver, the family of the injured or deceased may wish to explore the option for financial compensation. A wrongful death settlement will not undo the damage that has been done, but a monetary fund could assist the family in dealing with the expenses that come with an unexpected death. If this is an option for a family after a sudden accident, it is best to begin by thoroughly examining all options before proceeding.
