Manslaughter charges against driver involved in auto accident

On Behalf of | Feb 27, 2014 | Car Accidents |

A man involved in a fatal auto accident has recently been arrested on manslaughter charges. The auto accident involved just one car and the deceased was the passenger. The Oregon driver was arrested after he was treated for minor scrapes and bruises after the accident.

The driver was taken into custody on charges of drinking and driving, manslaughter, assault, failure to care for the safety of others, reckless driving and criminal mischief. In addition to the legal troubles stemming from the car accident, the Oregon man had an outstanding warrant for drugs and previous drunk driving incidents. The police report says that there were six people in the car at the time of the crash.

Of the six people who were in the car during the crash, one person fled the scene, and two others were treated for minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation by law enforcement and police are asking for the public’s help in gathering information about those who were in the car during the crash. There is no indication if the man has entered a plea or if he plans to fight the charges brought against him.

A fatal auto accident is always tragic, especially when the victims are so young. The family of the young man who died in this accident could consider filing legal action against the driver for his alleged negligence, and it is possible that the family could be eligible for wrongful death compensation. While this will not bring back their loved one, it may help cover the costs of the unexpected death.
