Oregon bicycle accident sends rider to OHSU

Oregon police are investigating a crash that sent one man to the hospital recently. The bicycle accident happened in the Portland-area suburb of Milwaukie on a weekday afternoon. After the incident, the driver of the car that struck the cyclist remained at the accident site to assist in the early stages of the official investigation.

According to reports about the bicycle accident, the rider was traveling on Oregon 224 just prior to the crash. When he tried to cross the roadway and turn onto Southeast Oak Street, a car struck the bicycle. It appeared from initial investigations that the driver of the car may have had the green light at the time of the incident. However, a complete review of evidence will be required to make that final determination.

The violent impact between the car and the bicyclist caused the bike rider to smash into the windshield of the much larger vehicle. This caused the man to suffer injuries to his body that were described as critical by medical personnel at the Oregon Health Sciences University hospital. No report of his chance of recovering from this unfortunate crash have been made to date.

The bicycle accident that caused injury to the rider in Milwaukie ended with a victim in the hospital recovering from the event. This is similar to what happens to many victims of these types of crashes. When bicycle accidents lead to injury on Oregon streets, often it is the fault of the driver of the car involved. When this is the case, though it is unclear in this recent accident, the bicyclist may be able to make a claim under our personal injury laws. Such claims can help people recover financially from an accident and act as a great benefit to those who must work to return to their normal lives after a crash.
