Oregon police are investigating an incident that happened recently on our state’s roadways. The auto accident claimed the life of one man who was a passenger in the only car involved in the incident and injured the driver of the car. The crash happened just five miles west of Elkton on a weekday afternoon.
According to an early report from Oregon officials, they believe that the car involved in the auto accident was travelling on Highway 38 just prior to the crash. For reasons that are still being determined by the official inquiry, the driver of the car lost control of his vehicle. This loss of control resulted in the vehicle leaving the shoulder of the roadway.
As the auto accident continued, the vehicle smashed into a tree that was down an embankment. The violent impact resulted in the death if the passenger in the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders who had been called by an OSP officer who witnessed the crash. The driver survived, where he was listed in fair condition at a local area hospital.
Now, that same driver is the subject of a police investigation aimed at learning hwy he left the roadway during the auto accident. Though this effort may result in criminal charges being made, he may also find that he faces potential personal injury liability under Oregon laws. This liability could include the wrongful death of the accident victim and could come from the surviving family of the deceased man.
