Oregon auto accident claim possible after 6 relatives injured

Few things are as frightening as experiencing a car accident while driving with children in the vehicle. Many people fear their children being injured in such an incident far more than they fear injuries to themselves. One recent crash which occurred sent five children to the hospital with injuries that were fortunately not life-threatening in nature. However, the injuries could necessitate medical bills that ultimately lead to an auto accident claim being filed in an Oregon civil court.

The crash happened along NE 162 Avenue in Portland when one Mercedes sideswiped a second Mercedes, this one an SUV. The SUV, which was transporting a family of one adult and five children home after attending church, rolled completely over and then settled back on its wheels. All six occupants of the SUV were injured in the accident and taken by emergency workers to an area hospital.

Five of the injured passengers were children, and all six occupants did have their seatbelts on at the time of the collision. No other details were immediately released by Oregon officials as to how or why the first Mercedes clipped the second. With that being said, if an investigation reveals that the driver acted in some sort of negligent manner, a citation or criminal charge could be leveled.

Whether criminal or traffic charges are filed, however, the injured individuals may be able to file an auto accident claim seeking restitution for their medical and other such expenses. This could take the financial pressure off of the family of the six injured victims. Medical bills can often prove costly, especially when multiple members of one family are injured in the same accident.
