Oregon police are seeing to speak with eye witnesses to a recent incident that happened on Interest 5. The auto accident that caused the investigation to begin occurred near Brownsville on a weekday afternoon. The incident left several people with serious injuries.

According to early reports about the auto accident, a car containing a woman and a child was travelling in the left lane of the southbound direction just prior to the crash. The driver of that car told officials that an unidentified pickup truck began to brake for reasons that are unclear. To avoid an impact, the driver swerved to her right.

As she did, she entered the inside shoulder of the roadway. Unfortunately, the shoulder was then being occupied by a man and his companions. That group had stopped due to a flat tire on the vehicle in which they were travelling. The swerving driver plowed into the stopped car and its passengers, causing severe injuries to at least one victim.

A man who had been standing outside of the stopped car suffered an apparent amputation as a result of the auto accident. He, and the others who were inured in the crash, may have long recovery periods ahead of them as they work to physically recover from the incident. In addition, he may find that he is able to make a claim against the driver at fault for his injuries using Oregon personal injury laws. Such a claim is common in this type of case and can help a victim with the sometimes significant costs that come as a result of an auto accident.
