An Oregon man has died as a result of the injuries that he suffered in a recent incident in Canby. The man was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a single car accident on a weekend evening. Another passenger and the driver of the car were also injured in the incident.

Initial reports indicate that the Oregon car accident happened when a car driven by a teenager smashed into a telephone pole. The impact was violent enough to break the pole, causing it to fall to the ground. The pole came into contact with the car on the passenger’s side. This is where the now-deceased victim was seated.

Police are now investigating the car accident. They do know that the back seat passenger, a 15-year-old teen, was also injured and taken to OHSU for medical care. They also suspect that the driver may have been under the influence of an intoxicant. Further details will likely emerge as the investigation continues.

In a car accident such as this one, those that have been injured, or the survivors of the person killed, may be able to make a claim against a driver by using our state’s personal injury laws. Such a claim could include damages such as personal injury or wrongful death, pain and suffering, lost wages and other economic losses as provided under Oregon laws. Personal injury laws are intended to assist victims of a car accident that have been injured due to the negligent actions of another party.
