Oregon police have taken a local man into custody after a recent incident on a local highway. The man is accused of causing a car and pedestrian accident that left two people injured. He now faces criminal charges, including reckless driving, assault and criminal mischief.
The Oregon pedestrian accident happened after a car being driven by the now-arrested man smashed into a station wagon on a local roadway. The violent impact caused the vehicles to come at least partially apart, sending debris into the air. The pedestrian suffered injuries when he was struck by the flying debris.
In addition, the driver of the station wagon that was struck by the other driver was taken to an area hospital for medical care. At last report, he was listed as having suffered serious injuries. Now, both victims of this unfortunate incident must work to recover from the injuries that they suffered the evening of the crash.
Like all victims of a car or pedestrian accident in our state, the people who were involved in this case may be able to make a claim against the driver at fault for their injuries using Oregon’s personal injury laws. If that is the case, the victims may seek pain and suffering or lost wages damages, among other available claims. When people are injured in accidents such as this one, they often are able to seek awards that can help them to recover economically from the event that was caused by the actions of another person. Of course, to do so they must be able to show evidence that another person’s negligence caused or contributed to the injuring car collision.
