Attempting to safely pass other vehicles on the highway can be dangerous. When the unimaginable occurs, serious accidents can result. Such is the case in one recent car accident which left several people suffering from injuries ranging from minor to severe when a car trying to pass a commercial vehicle on Oregon’s Highway 101 crashed before completing the pass.

The car driver was in his Lexus heading in the southbound direction when he attempted to pass the commercial vehicle. Before completing the pass, the driver veered into a guardrail on the northbound side of the road. This caused the Lexus driver to lose control of his car and he crashed, nearly head-on, into a Winnebago traveling northbound. A pickup truck that had also been in the northbound lanes collided with the Winnebago almost immediately following the car accident.

The driver of the Lexus and his passenger both were transported to the hospital via LifeFlight helicopter with serious injuries. The other two victims of the multiple car accident were not taken to the hospital for their injuries, as they were described as minor. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. According to reports, all parties involved were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident.

It is unclear why the driver of the Lexus veered into the guardrail. Oregon State Police are still working to investigate this injurious accident. Once all of the information has been gathered, police may be able to reconstruct the details of this horrid Oregon car accident.

Once the investigation is completed, the determination can be made as to whether any charges will be filed against any of the drivers. When Oregon drivers are injured in an accident at the fault of another driver, they may be able to seek compensation for their financial losses through civil claims such as personal injury. Because of this, the families of those injured will likely follow the case as they will be interested to learn why this accident occurred.
