Child thrown from truck in Portland crash, four others injured

A two-car crash in Portland this month left two adults and three children injured. Although it is unclear who was at fault or how the accident happened, according to a news report, the accident happened at an intersection in broad daylight.

According to Portland police officers, the car accident occurred at about 11:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday in November. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found five people were injured. More resources were called to assist in the rescue. The vehicles that were involved were a pickup truck that was carrying three children and one adult and a minivan with a driver. A child that was in the pickup was thrown from the truck.

Rescue workers found the driver of the van pinned inside the vehicle, and according to a news report, had to use the Jaws of Life to free the person. The four people in the pickup truck had to be taken to Emanuel Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the minivan was transported to Oregon Health and Science University. The severity of injures varied, according to news reports. Police are investigating the car accident to determine what may have caused the accident.

When persons are injured in motor vehicle accidents, they may be entitled to damages which can help pay for medical costs and other expenses. A motor vehicle accident can often leave people with short-term and long-term medical costs stemming from the injuries they sustained in the incident.

Motor vehicle accidents can include cars, trucks, buses, scooters and motorcycles, as well as pedestrians and bicycles. When pedestrians and bicycles are involved, the accidents are more likely to be serious or even fatal.
