In a matter of moments, a ride down the highway can turn tragic. That is what happened in early October when police found two heavily damaged vehicles in the road.

Portland police say the two-car collision left one person dead and another person injured. The car accident took place on Northeast Portland Highway, but further details are still limited.

According to Portland police, the automobile accident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. on a Thursday. Upon arriving to the block of 4600 Northeast Portland Highway, officers discovered two damaged vehicles in the street. Both vehicles had sustained heavy damage. One person was found dead at the scene and another person, who was suffering from serious injuries, had to be transported to a local hospital. The condition of that person is not known.

The names of those involved in the car accident have yet to be released. The Portland Police Bureau’s Major Crash Team says it is investigating the incident. Traffic on the Northeast Portland Highway was blocked from Northeast 45th to Northeast 60th avenues while rescue and clean up were underway.

While the details of this accident are still unclear, it is obvious two people suffered a great deal because of it. One family is now without a family member and another family is dealing with an injured loved one. Both of these families may want to know exactly what happened and if anyone is at fault or responsible for this tragedy.

In the event that one of the drivers was responsible for the car accident, he or she may be accountable for damages to the other party, including pain and suffering, medical bills and lost income.
