People take risks when they get into their vehicles and drive. Distractions, dangerous drivers who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol and those who are texting or talking on a cellphone can increase the risk of injury to themselves and others. If you’re hit by someone who was speeding or not paying attention, you know how important it is for drivers to be diligent behind the wheel. A crash where you’re the victim means you need to file claims, work with your attorney and negotiate with insurance companies; all things you could have avoided if the other driver was more careful.

Take for instance this example of a dangerous driver in Oregon. A driver was killed in a four-car crash that took place over the weekend of June 5 when he was involved in a collision with a semi truck. According to the news release, the collision took place on Sunday.

The accident happened when a tractor-trailer did not slow or stop for stopped and slowing traffic ahead of it on the highway near Jantzen Beach. That 18-wheeler then collided with the back of the man’s sedan, crushing it between a Lincoln Town Car and the semi’s front end. Another vehicle was also impacted during the collision, but the driver is expected to recover.

Following the initial impact, the 44-year-old man’s sedan caught on fire. The man died at the scene from his injuries; it’s not clear if he was able to escape his vehicle. Following the man’s death, the truck driver, a 51-year-old man, has been issued a careless driving citation.
