Oregon auto accident can end with personal injury claim

Oregon police are investigating a recent crash that happened in Multnomah County. The auto accident claimed the life of one person and left another with an extended hospital stay. The incident occurred during the early afternoon hours of a weekday.

Initial reports about the auto accident say that two cars were travelling in opposite directions on Northwest Cornelius Pass Road just prior to the crash. For reasons that are still being investigated, one of the cars was driven across the median line. This caused that vehicle to smash head-on into an on-coming car.

The driver of the car that crossed the line perished in the auto accident. Soon after the crash, police began their investigation. This will likely include a review of all available evidence, including physical details and any eyewitness accounts. Early indications have suggested that alcohol could have played a factor in the crash, though specific details are as of yet unclear.

When an auto accident such as this one happens in Oregon, those that have been inured often pursue a claim against the driver deemed to have been at fault for their injuries. This type of claim is made under our state's personal injury laws and can include demands for monetary damages such as pain and suffering and lost wages. The personal injury claims can be made by victims, or their survivors when the accident is a fatal one (in which case a wrongful death claim is made). In each case, any money awarded to a victim can be used to help in the financial recovery, though in many cases the emotional recovery can take a much longer period of time.
