Oregon state officials teamed up with local authorities recently to reconstruct an accident that caused critical injury to one local man. The man at the center of the pedestrian accident was crossing a road in Astoria when he was struck down by a car that may have run a red light, early reports indicate. The victim remains in critical condition.
The victim in this pedestrian accident was said to have been unconscious at the scene of the crash. Rescue personnel transported him to a local hospital for medical treatment. However, the victim’s injuries were so substantial that he had to be taken by a LifeFlight helicopter to a Portland-area facility. The details of his injuries were not disclosed.
The driver of the vehicle that police believe may have caused the pedestrian accident has not yet been charged in this case, though the results of the investigation are to be sent to the district attorney’s office for review. He may face criminal and traffic citations if the results of the ongoing investigation conclude that he was responsible for the injuries suffered by the pedestrian. If this is the case, the driver may additionally face a personal injury claim from the victim.
