Portland pedestrian accident leads to injury for one man

On Behalf of | May 4, 2012 | Pedestrian Accidents |

Running across busy Portland-area roads can be dangerous for pedestrians. Cars that are traveling at high rates of speed on crowded streets may not see the pedestrian until it is too late. When a pedestrian accident happens, it is rare for the pedestrian to escape unscathed.

The Traffic Division Major Crash Team is investigating a pedestrian accident that happened in Portland on April 23. The early morning collision came on 82nd Avenue at Northeast Wasco. Early reports state that the car was traveling on 82nd above I-84 when it struck the pedestrian in the southbound lane. It appears that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the busy road outside of a crosswalk when the accident occurred.

Police are continuing to investigate the pedestrian accident. The man reportedly has life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. The driver was not reported injured and remained at the accident scene to meet with police.

Though no determination of fault has been made in this case, it may be assessed as a result of the ongoing investigation. Police will likely look at such factors as speed, skid marks and witness statements as they sift through evidence to figure out what happened. Hopefully the pedestrian in this case will experience a full recovery.

When a victim of a pedestrian accident in Oregon finds that they have suffered injury caused by the negligence of another, he or she may find it beneficial to review all information regarding potential legal claims. In certain situations, it may be possible to obtain monetary compensation that can help cover hospital costs and other expenses.
