Injuries result from Oregon man's illegal U-turn attempt

Making a U-turn on busy local roads can sometimes surprise other motorists on the road. When this happens, sometimes a crash cannot be avoided. Injuries and damages may result from this driver behavior.

Oregon police report that a car accident occurred recently, just north of Aurora. The car accident involved two cars and resulted in injuries to at least two people. After the mid-afternoon accident, the two accident victims were brought to different hospitals to receive care for their injuries.

As a man and his wife travelled southbound on a state highway, the man began to initiate a U-turn at an intersection. A trailing car struck the couple's vehicle on the side, which caused their car to flip onto its top as a result of the impact.. Both the 62-year-old husband and 65-year-old wife were able to crawl out from their vehicle's wreckage. The man was cited for an unlawful U-turn, and the 75-year-old driver of the other vehicle was transported to Oregon Health and Sciences University with what were described as non-life threatening injuries. The female passenger in the offending vehicle was sent to a hospital, also with non-life threatening injuries.

The car accident victims here may have suffered not only physical injuries but economic ones as well, since the costs of medical treatment and damage to the vehicles may impose a financial burden. In these types of cases there may be legal rights available to victims who have been injured due to the negligence of another party. A successful Oregon personal injury claim may provide reimbursement for expenses incurred for medical care and other costs, as well as for pain and suffering in connection with the accident and its aftermath.
