Illegal turn by Portland driver left pedestrian with broken pelvis

Earlier this week, yet another serious car accident took place in the Portland area. According to Hillsboro police, an elderly woman was driving down Baseline Ave when she attempted to turn left onto 185th Street. However, it is illegal to make that left turn.

Portland bike accident leads to biker trapped under car

There is no doubt that biking is a favorite form of transportation in Portland, but sometimes the combination of bicycles and cars on Portland's streets does not mix. Two weeks ago multiple fire crews responded to an early morning report that involved a bicyclist trapped face down underneath a car.

Portland jury convicts man who injured pregnant woman in crash

Nearly two years ago, a devastating car accident left a Portland woman in a vegetative state. She was pregnant at the time. Doctors performed a cesarean section a few weeks after the crash, and while the baby is doing fine, her 21-year-old mother was severely injured. Her skull and jaw were fractured, and she sustained widespread brain damage. After six months in the hospital, she was transferred to a rehab center, where she remains today. She is now able to open her eyes, but she cannot speak.

Oregon driver responsible for fatal bicycle accident sentenced

Cycling is a common hobby as well as a means of commuting to and from work in much of Oregon. Unfortunately, bicycle car accidents happen too often. Recently, one man was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to fatally striking a cyclist with his vehicle.The 18-year-old man had been driving his girlfriend's Acura MDX when the accident happened shortly before 1 a.m. late this summer. While he was driving near the intersection of Southeast 87th Avenue and Division Street, his vehicle struck two cyclists who were in the bicycle lane. A 17-year-old cyclist, luckily, suffered only bruises and scrapes. The other cyclist, a 28-year-old man, was dragged for at least 50 years before he died.
